PCB & RBS announce 20-20 Tournament from October 4 to 8, 2008

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in partnership with The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) announced the holding of the Fourth 20-20 Tournament for Domestic Cricket Season 2007-08. RBS also announced its title sponsorship to the tournament, which furthers RBS’s commitment to cricket and to the tournament.

The RBS 20:20 Tournament will run from 4 - 8 October, 2008 in Lahore. All leading matches of the tournament will be held in the Gaddafi Stadium and will be aired live on Geo Super.

After the formal re-branding of ABN AMRO to RBS on August 1, 2008, RBS has reiterated its firm commitment to continue its domestic cricket sponsorship with Pakistan Cricket Board. The Schedule of the tournament is attached.

Thirteen Regional teams divided into four groups will participate in this tournament. A total of 18 Matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Bagh-i-Jinnah Lahore and LCCA Ground Lahore. Top team from each group will play the semi finals and the winners of semi finals will fight for championship in the final. Champion team of RBS 20-20 Cup 2007-2008 will participate in the Champions League in India in December 2008.

We look forward to further strengthening cricket at the domestic level thus providing more and more players at the grass roots level to have greater exposure and opportunities to perform and qualify for cricket at the International level."

Speaking on the occasion, Shehzad Naqvi, Country Executive of RBS in Pakistan stated: "The sponsorship of 20:20 tournament by RBS clearly highlights our long-term commitment to cricket in Pakistan.
